Maybe you've already experienced this: You want to write a message and suddenly your phone is typing on its own - without you having your finger on the display. Apps are opening and closing without your interaction. And your phone only responds to your touches sporadically. Show
This phenomenon is called Ghost touch. But maybe you’ve also heard of “phantom input” or “touch glitches”. In this article, we would like to explain how ghost touch can occur and what you can do to fix the problem yourself. How can a ghost touch occur and what can you do about it?Reason 1: Your protective cover presses on your screenIf you use a protective case, it can exert too much pressure on your device’s display and thus lead to problems with your touchscreen. This is because the protective case overlaps the signal of your actual finger touch so that it can’t be recognized correctly. This can also happen when you use a screen protector and there is dust or dirt underneath. So, if you use a protective case or tempered glass, try it without these protections for a while. Reason 2: Dirt influences your screenMalfunctions like the ghost touch can also be caused by dirt or water droplets on the display. These particles conduct electricity, which in turn causes a charge disturbance on the screen. This leads to errors when using your phone. So in this case, it’s really simple: Thoroughly clean your mobile phone. Reason 3: Software problemsOf course, the sensitivity of your touchscreen can also be related to the software. For this reason, it makes sense to get to the bottom of this cause. It can already help to restart your device. If that does not solve the problem, reset your settings to fix software issues. Restarting an iPhoneWith Android phones, a restart is easily possible via the power button. For iOS, this is a bit more complicated, so you can follow this short guide: To restart an iPhone, press the volume button briefly – first up, then down – and then hold down the power button until you see the Apple logo on the screen. Reason 4: Hardware issuesMaybe you’ve heard about the iPhone X, having troubles with ghost touch? Shortly after release there were many complaints about it. But the phenomenon does not only occur with the iPhone X, but you can encounter it with all smartphones. Often, it is caused by the device itself. For example, the Ghost touch of the iPhone X was caused by a faulty component within the display module. However, a wrong fit in the device or the motherboard can also cause a ghost touch on your smartphone. This is often the case after a repair or a fall. If your phone is still under warranty, you will probably get your device exchanged free of charge due to the Ghost Touch. If the problem occurs outside the warranty period or after a fall, you can check the fit of the connectors yourself and replace the spare part if necessary. I couldn't even do anything with the screen. And my screen had never fallen talkless of having a crack for it to misbehave the way it did. In my own case I discovered the twitching was caused by an app I installed. I was about to return the phone back to the dealer when I decided to launch my phone in "safe mode" and uninstalled all recent apps. After restarting, the phone became normal; no twitching till date.Re: How To Stop Automatic Touches On Screens Of Your Android Phones And Tablet by somefella101: 10:18pm On Nov 23, 2020 Andrii: Thank you! I had a phantom touch issue on the top right of the screen. When I used the touchscreen test to see what was going on, they were all in a straight line vertically only about a centimeter down the screen, so only one column of the matrix was having the issue. I used the partial screen app as soon as I started seeing it again and it has thus resolved the problem. Because it was in such a small area, I haven't had any issues since working with that area on my screen even with those few areas being disabled. Fantastic work around and thank you again! It was becoming very very annoying!Re: How To Stop Automatic Touches On Screens Of Your Android Phones And Tablet by thepoweruser(m): 9:03am On Nov 24, 2020 Nice DIY post @OP. Though I must say that if you are using a smartphone with curved edges, specifically Samsung flagships which are notorious for inaccurate palm rejection algorithms, then I sincerely doubt these tips might help. There are lots of Android phone users who have noticed automatic touches on their Android screen. This is also famous as “Ghost Touch” issue on their device.
