How can I see all mutual friends on Facebook?

Friends lists are simply lists that you can create on Facebook to organize your online friends. You can control the privacy options for groups of friends and filter the stories that appear on your Facebook news feed using these lists. If you want to create a List called "Mutual" and add friends to it, you can do so using the friends page in Facebook. You can add up to 1,000 friends to a friends list -- and you can delete the list at any time.

  1. Sign into your Facebook account.

  2. Click on the "Friends" option below your profile picture in the column on the left side of the page.

  3. Click the "Manage Friend List" button at the top of the page.

  4. Click the "+Create a List" button at the top of the page; a pop-up window will appear with a list of all your friends.

  5. Type in "Mutual" in the "Enter a Name" field at the top of the Create a New List window, to name the friends list "Mutual." Alternatively you can name the list with any other name you wish.

  6. Scroll through the list of friends in the pop-up window and click on any friends you want to add to the "Mutual" list.

  7. Click the "Create List" button at the bottom of the window to create the new list.

I'll try and explain the situation more clearly.

Let's say I'm friends with X. I then visit A's profile, with whom I don't have a friendship on Facebook.I can see its "friends in common list", and I see that X is a mutual friend.

Then I visit B's profile, with whom I don't have a friendship on FB either. I know for sure X and B are friends on FB because of some reason.I can see many mutual friends with B, but not X.

How come is that? I have noticed it many times. Does it have to do with X selecting who I can and cannot see as a mutual friend, or does it have to do with A's and B's privacy settings?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

In Facebook, "mutual friends" is a term that refers to a friend that you and another user have in common. "Mutual friend" is not a label that can be applied by you to anyone else. It is simply a way to inform you that you share friends with someone else. You can turn mutual friends into your Facebook friends by using the "People You May Know" tool. For some people, you'll need to share at least one mutual friend with them in order to send a friend request.

    • Open their profile page by searching for their name, email address, or phone number at the top of the app or website.
    • Tap or click the "Add Friend" button on their profile page. When they accept your friend request, they will be added to your friends list.
    • If the "Add Friend" button is not available, you'll need to have at least one mutual friend with that person. Keep adding other people and you're bound to get a mutual friend soon.

Open the "People You May Know" list. This list shows people that you share a mutual friend with, according to Facebook's Artificial Intelligence program. You'll see the number of mutual friends you have with that person below their name. For example, if it says "15 mutual friends," there are 15 people on your friends list who are friends with that person as well.

    • Android - Tap the Friends button at the top of the screen, then scroll down to the "People You May Know" section.
    • iPhone - Tap the Friends button at the bottom of the screen, then scroll down to the "People You May Know" section.

Add mutual friends if you can't add someone as a friend. When you visit a stranger's Facebook profile, you may notice that the "Add Friend" button is missing. This is because that person has set their security settings so that they only receive friend requests from people who share at least one mutual friend. You'll need to be friends with at least one person on this person's friends list before you can send a friend request.
