Whether you are going to be a follower and/or the leader in thegroup, communication is an important skill in effective discussion. By educating yourselfon how to communicate, you can develop and/or build upon skills that will make you animportant asset. For example, learning about communication skills (active listening, bodylanguage, non-verbal cues, asking questions, etc.) will make you a more efficient andeffective member when solving problems and/or making decisions. I have been in agroup where one member lacked communication skills. This individual was alwaysdistracted by looking around the room, would keep asking speakers to repeat, and wouldask questions that were irrelevant.
